Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 4.15 g, 3 h), military mint traveling with Caesar in Illyria (Apollonia?), early to mid 48 BC. Diademed female head (Clementia?) to right, wearing oak wreath; behind, TII. Rev. CAESAR Trophy of Gallic arms; oval shield to left, axe surmounted by animal’s head to right. Babelon (Julia) 26. Crawford 452/2. RBW -. Sydenham 1009. The reverse struck from a worn die, otherwise, good very fine.
